Mayor Sheila Dixon has declared Monday as " Frank Zappa Day" in Baltimore.

The eccentric musician was born in Baltimore on Dec. 21, 1940. He died in 1993.

Last week, Baltimore's public art commission decided that it will erect a bust of Zappa outside a public library.

The bust was given to Baltimore by fans of Zappa from Lithuania, where his music was popular among the avant-garde in the early 1990s. A similar bust is a tourist attraction in Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital.

There are only about 4 branches of the Enoch Pratt Library this should go:

Hampden, Charles Village, & Roland Park north of downtown, and Highlandtown to the east. Anywhere else the riff raff will destroy it. My vote would be Hampden with its eclectic mix of shops & restaurants, and its neat Christmas display this time of year.

Do you know what you are?
You are what you is
You is what you am
A cow don't make ham
You aint what you're not
So see what you got
You are what you is
And that's all there is.

Then again, the Washington Village/Pigtown branch with its eclectic mix of drug dealers and hookers might be something Zappa would appreciate.

Hey BD--thanks for that post the other day while I was gone...you do recall that Frank and I share something with respect to our mortality here, right? Unlike Phil and me, he chose not to treat his prostate cancer...in spite of Phil and I being "success stories", we (I assume?) are less than sympathetic to his (Frank's) choice...dumbass move if you ask me, but, fit the bill. Now, this is not meant to detract from his genius. Just a bit too much testosterone methinks.

So, you and skies have "made up"? I knew you would...
